I have worked as a professional tattooist for over 10 years, working during that time in Nottingham, Leeds, Matlock, Cyprus and now Southwell at Epona Tattoo. As a tattooist I believe the relationship between myself and my client is of the utmost importance. It is from that relationship that good art and truly unique tattoos can be developed. All of my work is designed for my clients and I am able to work in a number of different styles and techniques, in this way I ensure that my client's tattoos are as unique and individual as they are.
Tattoos are both art form and shamanic ritual. The combination of pain, art, blood and focus and make all tattoos a transformative process and it is my job to ensure that that transformation is a positive and joyous one. Whether you believe in this or not your tattoo will be one of the only things you will take with you to the grave, so it is very important to get it right.
My background is in fine arts and I have over 30 years experience working as an artist ranging from costume and set design for film and theatre to mural painting and contemporary art. I like to work in close collaboration with my clients and see tattooing as a sharing artform that involves both of us. I involve my clients in the whole process, making sure each project is tailored specifically to their requirements and that they are aware of and happy with all of the steps along the way. This usually involves a free consultation, either by email or in person, prior to the actual appointment. A little patience and conversation beforehand usually reaps better results and a happy client!
